This is a vintage hoop-back armchair, large size, with a round gold label, by ERCOL, a long-established British furniture manufacturer founded in 1920.

The hoop-back chair, the most orthodox style in ERCOL's iconic Windsor chair series, is based on a classical design called a "bow back" (a curved backrest).

The "round gold label" was used from around 1977 to around 1995, after the switch from the blue label.

This particular label was used from around 1981 to around 1995.
